1. RECORDS
As a member I will become familiar with and follow
IMPCA's requirements for registering dogs and puppies. I pledge to keep
accurate records and retain those records for a minimum of five years.
These records will include: Contracts of all sales relationships; stud
service contracts, pedigrees, all litters produced and all dogs/puppies
sold. I will report to the Registrar any person who falsifies a registration
or knowingly misrepresents a pedigree.
2. BREEDING
· As a Breeder of Mini Pei I will
plan each Breeding I do for the sole purpose of improving the breed.
· I will select the stud dog and
brood bitch from an acquired knowledge base for conformation and
temperament with a careful study of the breed standard, and the principles
of genetics and inherited health disorders of this breed.
· I will not breed any MINI PEI
until they are physically mature. HEALTH CERTIFICATIONS
are encouraged by all MINI PEI BREEDERS.
· Before entering into any breeding
commitment, I will study the pedigree, conformation and health records
of both the sire and dam, keeping in mind the Standard of the breed as
defined by IMPCA. I have an obligation to refuse any breeding if, in my
opinion, it is not in the best interest of the breed.
· As a responsible stud dog owner
I will fully explain my reasons for refusing to breed any bitch
to my stud.
· I believe that only those dogs
known to be free of serious BREED defects should be used for breeding.
I will not breed monorchids, dogs with vicious or shy temperaments,
or dogs whose parents are diagnosed with FSF, amyloidosis or any other
serious genetic disease.
· As a responsible breeder I will
refrain from using a dog that consistently produces afflicted puppies.
· I will require the buyers of companion
puppies to spay or neuter them regardless of quality after being fully
mature unless a breeder option is in the sale contract.
3. HEALTH
· I will maintain high standards
of health and care for my dogs and guarantee the genetic health of my dogs/puppies
for no less than two years.
. I WILL NOT SELL A SICK PUPPY. My Dog/Puppy
will have a veterinary certificate of health as required by law before
any sale.
4. SALES
· I will show discrimination in
the sale of my puppies. I will have the utmost concern with the type of
homes in which they are placed. My dogs/puppies will not be sold to dog
wholesalers, retailers or medical facilities.
· I will transfer all applicable
registration papers as required and agreed to under my contract.
· Upon the sale of a dog/puppy,
I will provide all the health records applicable to that sale.
· I will refrain from releasing
any puppy until it is at least eight weeks of age.
5. ADVERTISING
· My advertising for dogs/puppies
will be factual and honest. I will allow the use of any photos I have given
to the buyer of any of my dogs/puppies. ALL Buyers have the right to use
an approved photo of the sire or dam of their dog if I own them.
. I will not use copyrighted photos without permission
, however, that photo must carry a proven copyright prior to it's acquisition
by me in order to prove it is a copyright infringement.
· I will not encourage COMPANION
buyers regarding the breeding potential of a dog/puppy without a mentoring
agreement . I believe breeding purebred dogs involves certain responsibilities
and is not to be taken lightly.
6. EXHIBITOR/BREEDER RELATIONS
· I understand that exhibiting dogs
is a sport and that I am expected to conduct myself with good sportsmanship
in all activities. THE CLUB WILL DEFINE THIS AS the following and enforce
